Refrigeration system reduces energy use through component monitoring

July 1, 2011

Freeair refrigeration system

Freeaire® offers energy-efficient commercial and industrial refrigeration systems that reduce electricity use by eliminating unnecessary operation of individual components, such as compressors, evaporators, door heaters, and lighting. The refrigeration system employs the patented electronic Cooler Controller™, a computer that operates each component of a conventional refrigeration system only as much as needed.

In colder climates on cool days, a Polar Package™ keeps the compressor system from producing cold air and instead moves superfiltered, naturally cold air from outside to inside. This system is appropriate for coolers and freezers from 1,000 cu. ft. to food or beverage warehouses and manufacturers.

The system's 2100 All Climate controller can store up to 100 years of equipment run-time data that can be exported to a USB drive. Run-time data can be used in preventive maintenance programs and to forecast system failures in advance of component failure. This data collection feature anticipates the future importance of carbon accounting for a carbon offset, cap-and-trade market. The system can be networked to other controllers.
