Air filtration system

September 12, 2011

Clean Air America Inc. has introduced the ScandMist, which separates oil and emulsion mist and fumes created by modern machine tools and returns cleaned air directly to the production area.

The company licensed this oil mist elimination technologies from Vokes Air in Sweden. Mist, smoke, and harmful particles generated by metalworking machines are extracted at the source and cleaned by a three-stage filtration process.

The system separates oil fumes, oil mist, oily dust, and emulsion mist using proprietary filters. Cleaned air then is returned directly to the workshop and exceeds international health and safety standards for maximum exposure limits to metalworking fluids, including standards by OSHA, NIOSH, and HSE, says the company.

The product uses fiber bed filters that can operate continuously in extreme operating conditions, according to the company. Other features include connection capability to several machine tools; elimination of coolant mist (neat oil or emulsion); removal of harmful particles, including bacteria; main filter life that can exceed two years; no required filter cleaning; and reduced power consumption.

The filtration system comes in a variety of models from 400 to 50,000 CFM. In addition to these models, the company also provides custom-designed, turnkey oil mist removal systems.
