Lindsay Corp., a provider of irrigation systems and infrastructure products in Omaha, Neb., has received the 2009 Member of the Year Award from WasteCap Nebraska, a nonprofit organization that provides waste reduction and recycling services to Nebraska businesses.
The award recognizes a WasteCap Nebraska member that has shown consistent progress developing environmentally sustainable programs and exemplifying the WasteCap model of ongoing improvement in waste reduction, resource conservation, and recycling efforts.
Lindsay Corp. was recognized for its “Lean, Clean and Green” campaign and its “Green Teams,” which focus on recycling, paper reduction, and energy savings. The campaign included energy and other waste reduction savings at the corporate office and lean manufacturing initiatives at the Lindsay, Neb., manufacturing plant.
In addition, the company installed a Sky Harvester™ commercial rainwater harvesting system at its corporate building in Omaha. The system, which the company says is one of the largest commercial rainwater harvesting systems in the Midwest, is used to irrigate landscaping and saves thousands of gallons of water annually.
Lindsay manufactures and markets irrigation equipment used primarily in agricultural markets.
