United Solar Ovonic standardizes on GE software platform

GE Intelligent Platforms, Charlottesville, Va., a unit of GE Enterprise Solutions, has announced that United Solar Ovonic, a manufacturer of flexible solar modules in Rochester Hills, Mich., has standardized on GE’s Proficy® software platform for manufacturing its thin-film rooftop photovoltaic laminates.

The software includes operations management, HMI/SCADA, and reporting modules. The project is expected to cover operational manufacturing sites in Michigan and the company’s Mexico assembly plant.

United Solar is a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Conversion Devices Inc.
