Comau receives EN 16001 certification

Comau Inc., Southfield, Mich., has announced it is the first U.S. company to obtain EN 16001 certification after implementing energy consumption- monitoring procedures and completing requirements to reduce energy use. This achievement is part of Comau's global eCOMAU™ initiative, with certification also acquired at company facilities in Italy, France, Romania, Argentina, and Brazil.

As part of the certification process, the company put into place an energy management team that was trained in monitoring and reducing energy consumption, with the objective of sharing this knowledge and expertise with customers.

The EN 16001 standard provides a systematic approach to improving energy efficiency. According to the company, the expertise acquired through implementation of the energy management system has been transferred into Comau product development and services for customers, like those offered by the eCOMAU business line.

This business line offers energy efficiency consulting and GreenFit solutions to help customers enhance their automated manufacturing process while reducing energy consumption, as well as energy management system implementation to help customers achieve EN 16001 certification and green maintenance service to help customers sustain their energy -saving achievements.
