Electrocoagulation system removes metals, toxins from wastewater

March 7, 2011

OilTrap Environmental Inc. has introduced the ElectroPulse electrocoagulation system to clean wastewater.

Using a proprietary treatment chamber, the system applies a very low-voltage DC electrical charge to waste streams containing heavy metals, oil and grease, and TSS. Heavy metals and other toxins are removed from the water and oxidized. The company reports that the treated water generally will pass a TCLP test.

The system can process 5 to 400 GPM, and the treated water typically can be recycled or discharged to a sewer. In some cases, it can be discharged to surface water.

A PLC manages all system processes, monitors operation and errors, and provides direct communication to the factory.
