Variable-speed drive fits in tight spaces

March 7, 2011

Schneider Electric has introduced the Altivar™ 32 variable-speed drive. With its ultraslim, book-style design and the ability to attach a self-protected disconnect directly, the drive can be mounted side by side and integrated into tight spaces.

The drive features certified safety functions for safe power removal, safe limited speed, and safe stopping, as well as integrated decision capabilities such as I/O event logic, counting, and timing functions.

It can operate as the heart of a simple control system and perform functions usually managed by a PLC, which allows the use of Boolean and arithmetical operations, timers, counters, comparators, and short automated sequences to customize the drive to specific machine applications.
