Creative Sign Designs receives sustainable-business award

July 11, 2011

Earth Charter U.S., Tampa, Fla., has honored Creative Sign Designs, Tampa, for its focus on sustainable efforts for people, profit, and planet, the triple bottom-line method of evaluating corporate performance by measuring environmental sustainability and social responsibility as well as profits.

Creative Sign Design researches new materials and processes to improve its ability to create environmentally friendly signs. The company finds and implements new technologies to continue reducing waste and streamlining processes, including eliminating stocked, printed marketing and sales materials to prevent overprinting and needless paper waste.

Other initiatives include developing electronic marketing and sales brochures and materials to enable electronic distribution of communications as well as implementing an active, company-wide recycling program for aluminum, paper, glass, steel, and plastics in office and manufacturing facilities.

The company designs and fabricates signs using products such as the NovAcryl® GRTM series, which is processed in plain tap water and bonds to a clear, Greenguard-certified, nontoxic PETG panel with a minimum of 40 percent recycled content. It uses durable materials and modular construction, which enable customers to extend or repair signage systems easily and with less disposable waste.

It also uses laser-printed paper graphic inserts, which allows clients to use recycled paper and update signs in-house; LED signage, which the company says is 85 percent more efficient than signage with neon lights; and sustainable ADA signage containing nontoxic biopolymers and as much as 40 percent recycled material.
