Sharps develops medical waste conversion process

December 21, 2010

Sharps Compliance Inc., Houston, has developed the patent-pending GREEN Waste Conversion Process™, which eliminates medical waste dumped into landfills by 100 percent. The process transforms discarded medical waste into a new product called PELLA-DRX™, a clean raw material used in the manufacture of industrial resources and suitable for industries such as cement, lime, steel, and power plants.

The waste is repurposed into a raw material that becomes part of a new product. None of the medical waste processed goes to a landfill.

Sharps currently addresses medical waste for about 9 million individuals in the U.S. who self-inject, professional offices, clinics, and other related regulated sites and emergency preparedness programs.
