Cryopak, a producer of temperature-controlled products in Edison, N.J., now manufactures gel packs in reusable plastic trays. The initiative serves two purposes: It reduces the amount of corrugate to zero, and the hard packs freeze much faster, which saves energy costs and pallet positions in freezers.
The project, which started at Cryo-pak's Montreal location, can be offered at other locations in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
