Advantix Systems provides air treatment systems that are based on liquid desiccant technology. This technology uses a nontoxic lithium chloride solution (similar to salt water) to reduce humidity in the air while cooling it at the same time, delivering required temperature and humidity levels without overcooling.
The company’s DuCool products absorb humidity directly as they cool. This simultaneous approach can reduce energy consumption by more than 40 percent and deliver precise humidity control, says the company.
The technology also improves indoor air quality by removing approximately 90 percent of airborne microorganisms and 80 percent of particulates larger than 5 microns in a single pass. Without any condensation points, the systems have no drip pans or coils that could produce mold or bacteria buildup. The solution’s natural cleansing qualities eliminate the need for air filters to remove germs and odors. The solution does not exit the equipment and does not need to be replaced.
The air treatment systems can be powered by renewable energy such as solar and geothermal sources. They also can be powered by waste heat from cogeneration systems and other sources that can be found in many industrial facilities.
The DuTreat series is an all-electric system that provides cooling, heating, dehumidification, and improved air quality; the DuHandling series uses hot and cold water as the primary energy source and can enable the use of renewable and sustainable energy sources such as solar thermal systems, cogeneration, and chiller waste heat; and the DuHybrid series alternates automatically between renewable-energy sources and electricity, operating on the most cost-effective, available, energy-efficient source.
