Energy-efficient lighting for commercial designers

September 12, 2011

USAI® Lighting has introduced NanoLed®, a fusion of the company’s NanoLumen® and BeveLED® products. The new lighting product, which has a 2.5-in. aperture for LED sources, provides commercial designers with the efficiency, flexibility, and optical control needed to bridge aesthetics with functional application in a variety of interior installations, including commercial, the manufacturer states.

The lighting’s lightweight, high-performance proprietary aluminum heat sink helps to dissipate twice as much heat than traditional die-cast aluminum, allowing for a lifespan of 50,000 hrs.

Field-replaceable light engines in 10- and 14-W Cree MP-L EasyWhite® 2-Step LEDs are tightly binned for fixture-to-fixture color-rendering index consistency, and a patent-pending LED driver sliding tray allows for a simplified driver replacement without disturbing the original infrastructure.

Additionally, with plug-and-play trim assemblies, the fixtures can transition between down-light, adjustable, and wall-wash functions. Three interchangeable reflectors, from 20 to 52 degrees, allow the lighting to be adjusted based on task or application, while the proprietary, low-blended optical system provides the appearance of an incandescent light source.

The new product line is available in round, square, trimmed, and “barely-there” trimless options. It meets LEED® certification criteria and energy codes requiring ASHRAE 90.1-2001 standards or later.
