HVAC system energy cost calculator

May 17, 2010

Kimberly-Clark Filtration Products offers an interactive energy calculator at its Web site. The calculator is designed to help users understand the impact of energy on HVAC system operating costs by allowing them to compare the energy consumption of two different filters throughout their operating life cycle.

The online tool also includes a calculator that illustrates the amount of CO2 emissions associated with the energy consumption.

According to the company, energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions are two green building issues that can be affected positively by the use of the proper air filtration strategy. For variable-speed fan systems, a reduction in the filter’s initial pressure drop can reduce energy consumption and consequently reduce CO2 emissions at the power plant level.
