Photoelectric sensor

July 11, 2011

Schneider Electric has introduced the OsiSense XUBT1™, a photoelectric sensor specifically designed for machine manufacturers in the packaging and bottling industries. The sensor, fully adaptable for many classic bottling applications, enables manufacturers to detect transparent materials such as PET bottles, translucent wrapping film, and colored glass.

The sensor is suitable for use in conveying applications as well as for flow and jamming detection in food and beverage packaging. The 18-mm-dia. sensor operates in conjunction with a reflector and can be mounted on the production line using a bracket. A teach mode is incorporated in the sensor. A single press on the Teach button optimizes the detection parameters, while three LEDs on the rear of the sensor help to simplify maintenance, says the company.

The product has a 0.8-m sensing distance with reflector XUZ and can be installed with an M12 connection or standard cable. The sensor is CE-, UL-, and CSA-certified. It is the latest addition in the XUB product range, which also includes the XUBT and XUKT sensors, and is suitable for applications with commonly used materials.
