Paints, coatings formulated for sustainability

January 24, 2013

Clariant offers a variety of sustainable paints and coatings.

Exolit® AP, a flame-retardant line for intumescent coatings, is an ammonium phosphate product that produces no emissions during processing and disperses readily in compatibility with most binders. In the event of fire, the product reduces smoke corrosivity and density considerably, says the company.

Ceridust® 7820 TP and Ceridust 8330 TP are renewable resource-based products for powder coatings and printing inks, respectively. At high wax concentrations, Ceridust 7820 TP shows little matting and almost eliminates pinholes without reducing the gloss level for high-quality surfaces. Ceridust 8330 TP is a rub-resistant additive for all ink systems based on a natural polymer.

Hostavin® 3330 disp. XP, a UV absorber, enhances the durability and UV protection of waterborne coatings. The high-loaded triazine dispersion allows waterborne coatings to achieve the performance of conventional solvent-borne systems at optimized costs, says the company.
